The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is a UK government initiative designed to support households in reducing their energy consumption and costs. It achieves this by making energy companies responsible for funding energy efficiency improvements for eligible homes. The primary objective is to assist vulnerable and low-income households in improving energy efficiency, thereby reducing energy bills and cutting carbon emissions.
The scheme started in 2013 and will end in 2026.

While the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme is designed to support eligible households with energy efficiency improvements, it’s important to understand the potential costs involved.
Even if you qualify for the ECO, there may still be instances where a customer contribution is required to cover certain expenses. This can vary based on the specific improvements or installations needed for your home.
We prioritize transparency in all our dealings. After conducting our survey, we will discuss any potential contributions with you in detail, ensuring you’re fully aware of any costs that may be associated with the ECO-supported improvements.

GBIS was announced by the Chancellor on 23 September as part of the Growth Plan 2022, confirming £1bn of help through the scheme between April 2023 and March 2026.
GBIS will deliver mainly single, low-cost insulation measures to households rather than multiple measures.
This will ensure the maximum number of households can receive support through the scheme as quickly as possible.
The eligibility will be divided into two groups:

Broader group

Households who are not eligible for support under other ECO schemes. This group will cover all homes in Council Tax bands A-D in England, A-E in Scotland and A-C in Wales, with an EPC of D and below.

Low-income group

Households that would qualify via the usual ECO4 qualifying criteria.
